Director - Social and Environmental Additionality

 
 

Plastics For Change Foundation has the core objective to provide dignified sustainable economic opportunities for the urban poor and improve their quality of life through social interventions. 

We are looking for passionate and highly skilled individuals who can help us make a difference to the lives of people in India and other developing countries who make a living collecting, sorting, recycling and selling materials that someone else has discarded. Reports to: Chief Impact Officer 

Location: Chennai 

Position Summary: 

The Director of Social & Environmental Additionality is responsible for the overall design, implementation, and management of the organization's social and environmental developmental programs in communities Plastics for Change is engaged in. This includes developing program goals and objectives, creating program budgets, and ensuring that programs are aligned with the organization's mission and values. The individual will also be responsible for supervising program staff and volunteers, building relationships with community partners, and evaluating program 

effectiveness. 

Responsibilities: 

● Design, plan and implement developmental program strategies with the informal sector that align with the organization's mission and values, focussed on:

1) Livelihood Improvement

2) Education

3) Health & Safety

4) Environment projects

● Create and monitor program goals and objectives in the above areas. 

● Supervise program staff and volunteers. 

● Develop strategic partnerships with non-profits, academia and other value aligned partners to effectively scale program objectives. 

● Evaluate program impact & effectiveness, make recommendations & implement improvements. 

● Represent the organization at community events and meetings. 

● Collaborate closely with the business operations team to sustain long-term sustainability of the key mission objectives. 

Qualifications: 

● Masters/Bachelor's degree in a Social Work, Non-profit Management, Sociology or public administration 

● 10+ years of experience in program management and operations, including effective financial modelling. 

● Demonstration of working and engaging with the informal sector. 

● Strong Team leadership and project management skills 

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

● Agile with strong on-the-go problem solving skills in a rapidly changing environment. ● Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders. 

● Innovation mindset. 

● Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously ● Passion for the organization's mission and values
