here is how partnering with us changes lives

Ranjana Jeena, Waste Collector, Hubli, India

Plastics for Change helped Ranjana get her first identification card. When her identity was verified, our social worker helped open her very first bank account and access social security funds. She received Rs.2000 from the Prime Minister’s fund during the pandemic. Consequently, access to institutional government services has helped reduce her vulnerability by 40%; securing a better future for her and her family.

Meenakashi, Waste Collector, Dharwad, India

Meenakashi Bhajantri was a waste collector from Dharwad district. She was left unemployed due to the shut down imposed by the government without a reliable source of income. In the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic she became pregnant. The sudden isolation of the lockdown coupled with the economic and health worries took a toll on Meenakshi’s mental health. The PFC Foundation directed funds to her bank account, pregnancy supplements and counselling support to help her cope during this stress provoking time.

Badruddin’s scrap shop Owner, Mangalore, India

Badruddin’s scrap shop was upgraded with basic infrastructure and improved working conditions by an intervention from the PFC foundation. He was part of capacity building workshops and training for waste handlers on material recognition and best available practices for efficient and safe working conditions in Scrap shop. After the upgrade Badruddin captured a large share of the market and became more competitive in the recycling value chain. He is also technically equipped and has expertise on health, safety and inclusive recycling processes and techniques.
